The digital revolution and the future of democracy

In July 1969, mankind landed on the moon - without the slightest microelectronics. This was the crowning achievement of the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century. In September and October 1969, the first memory chip and processor appeared. Opening of the La Tech Revolution.
Its economic model, based on the logic of the victors, has nothing in common with that of the previous Revolution. It's not an extension of it: it's something completely different. Even more so from a political point of view than an economic one. By its very power, Tech is radically inegalitarian, calling into question the fundamental pact of our social democracies, while widening the gap between rich countries and all the others whose chances of becoming rich are diminishing.
This is the central thesis that Philippe Delmas will be presenting on Friday September 17. He will also be signing his latest book, "Un pouvoir implacable et doux" (Ed. Fayard).

An alumnus of ENA and ENSAE, with a doctorate in economics and a master's degree in mathematicsPhilippe Delmas is an expert in strategic and industrial issues, particularly in the defense, aeronautics and space sectors. After working for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on national security issues, he joined the Matra group before moving to EADS, where he held a number of positions. Today, he works as a strategy consultant for major industrial groups. Philippe Delmas is the author of several books, including "Le maître des horloges" (Le Seuil, 1992), "Le bel avenir de la guerre" (Gallimard, 1995) and "Il n'y a pas de malheur français" (Grasset, 2007). A seasoned mountaineer, he has climbed several 8,000-meter peaks in the Himalayas.
