Sharing experience on some data topics for e-commerce
After being heralded as a revolution, and sparking passionate debate, the collection and intensive use of data is now a must in many sectors. Particularly, and this will be the focus of this experience-sharing session, in the e-commerce sector. I'll start by reviewing a few high-impact use cases: calculating bid amounts for advertising campaigns, search engines and recommendation systems, personalization, product classification, sales forecasts and causal analysis. I will then discuss a number of technical, operational and organizational difficulties that I have experienced and that are often encountered in practice. Finally, I'll share my understanding of emerging trends and the developments I anticipate. The session will close with an open exchange with participants.
Jérémie Jakubowicz, alumnus of ENSAE (1999-2002), then ENS Cachan (2002-2004), PhD in applied mathematics (2007), has successively held a senior lecturer at Télécom ParisTech (2008-2011), then a joint Télécom SudParis-CNRS chair from 2011 to 2016. In 2017, he was appointed Chief Data Officer at Veepee, the European leader in event-based sales, with the main task of developing an artificial intelligence unit. In 2019, he joined ManoMano, Europe's leading DIY, gardening and home furnishings marketplace, as vice-president in charge of data. He is in charge of the use of data, whether in the form of algorithms or advanced analyses.
