DATA breakfast with Pierre CHOLET
The confidential computing revolution for data sharing
The confidential computing revolution for data sharing
Sharing experiences on confidential computing, technological and regulatory perspectives and its growing impact in different sectors.
Confidential computing technology emerged from the R&D laboratories of the major microprocessor suppliers just 3 years ago, following massive investment in 2018 by all cloud providers (Microsoft, Amazon, Alibaba, OVH, etc.). Based on encryption technologies, these "black box" processors guarantee end-to-end data confidentiality, and pave the way for previously impossible collaborations between third-party companies.
With confidential computing, there's no need to share data with others, only the results of analysis. From simple use cases such as the calculation of common customers between 2 companies, to complex use cases such as the calculation of AI on data from different organizations, the breakfast session will be an opportunity to explain with concrete examples how this technology is already impacting sectors such as banking, insurance, healthcare and the media. Finally, it will also be an opportunity to discuss what is changing from an RGPD compliance point of view, and what the various regulators think of it to date.
Pierre Cholet, an alumnus of ENSAE (2010) and then the NYU Courant Institute of Mathematics worked for a few years in the banking sector in New York before joining Palantir in 2014 and working alongside major companies to help them with their digital and data transformations. In particular, he helped set up Palantir's Paris and Munich offices. In 2021, Pierre joined Decentriq as Director of Business Development. Decentriq is a leading SaaS software company in confidential computing in Europe, based in Zurich, offering "data clean rooms" to enable collaboration on confidential data between several third parties.
