The data scientist family is growing: welcome to the data scientist economist!

Ensae Alumni and Médiamétrie invite you to attend their next
Data Science Breakfast, with the participation of :

Romain AEBERHARDT and Philippe FÉVRIER
(VELTYS)

"The data scientist family is growing: welcome to the economist data scientist!"

In addition to the traditional statisticians, a number of other profiles have emerged within the large and recent family of data scientists: data analysts, data engineers, Kaggle masters, Machine Learners... and more recently, economist data scientists.
The latter possess very specific skills, combining mastery of quantitative tools and structural understanding of underlying phenomena, all at the service of a cross-disciplinary vision. GAFAs, and tech companies in general, are well aware of this, and are recruiting more and more of them every year, from freshly graduated analysts to the much more senior profiles of Chiefs Economists.
What makes these data scientists so special?
Which companies can benefit from their skills?
What does an ENSAE graduate lack (or not) to become a perfect data scientist economist, and what types of positions can he or she hope to fill?
We'll try to answer these questions by drawing on our experience acquired over the last few years working with the management committees and teams of major French and international groups, both in France and abroad. We'll try to answer these questions, drawing on our experience gained over the last few years working with the management committees and teams of major French and international groups, both in economic and data science consulting, but also thanks to our entrepreneurial experience and our links with the world of research.

Philippe Février and Romain Aeberhardt are graduates of Ecole Polytechnique and ENSAE (1998 and 2003), and have doctorates in economics (EHESS). They began their careers as administrators at INSEE, have held the position of Director of Studies at ENSAE and are members of CREST. Philippe still teaches at Ecole Polytechnique and ENSAE, and is a member of the GENES scientific council. In 2013, he founded the Veltys consultancy, which Romain joined in 2015.

The meeting will be moderated by Philippe Tassi (1972), Deputy Managing Director of Médiamétrie and Vice-Chairman of ENSAE ALUMNI.
