Economy Finance Breakfast with Maya Atig, General Manager of the French Banking Federation
European banks in a world of crisis
European banks in a world of crisis
Over the past two or three years, a number of global crises will have followed one another: Brexit in 2019, the Covid epidemic from 2020 to 2022, and finally the conflict in Ukraine in early 2022.
All of this has involved European banks at various levels. How did they behave in this world in crisis? In concrete terms, how did these three shocks mobilize or affect the banks? What measures were put in place in response? How did they manage the risks, and how did they view the evolution of their markets, whether corporate or retail? And what does the near future hold in store, given that the war in Ukraine seems to have had its last word? On Friday June 3, Maya Atig, General Manager of the French Banking Federation, will give us her analysis of the situation and outline some scenarios for the future.
A graduate of ENSAE (1996) and ENA (Ecole Nationale d'Administration), Maya Atig began her career with the French Treasury, as an administrator in charge of the French banking sector.sor, as an administrator in charge of financial market regulation and monitoring, and then held various positions of responsibility, notably in the banking and insurance sectors. In 2012, she was appointed deputy CEO of Agence France Trésor. She then joined Fédération nationale du Crédit Agricole in 2016, also as Deputy General Manager. And in early 2020, she took up the position of Managing Director of the French Banking Federation, and also that of Managing Director of the Association Française des Banques (social branch). She also sits on the board of MEDEF and the European Banking Federation.
