It's back to school! Economy Finance Breakfast with Laurence BARRY and Thierry COHIGNAC
New knowledge applied to natural disaster management
It's back to school and our breakfasts are starting again!
When it comes to natural disasters, conventional statistics have long been of no help. Thanks to improvements in data quality and the resulting increase in the accuracy of models, it is now possible to better predict the cost of natural disasters on a very fine scale. In practice, however, this new knowledge calls into question our ability to imagine a shared world based on solidarity. Paradoxically, the coverage of large-scale random events is becoming more difficult, thanks to the renewal of predictive methods.
Experts in the field, Laurence Barry (theoretician, X 87, ENSAE 92) and Thierry Cohignac (practitioner,Doctor of Mathematics) will be on hand on Friday September 11 to share their thoughts and convictions on this highly topical subject.
An appointment not to be missed! Save the date!
