Cybercrime debate evening ENSAE Alumni- IHEDN

Cyber Financial Crime

With the development of the Internet and digital networks, economic and financial crime has taken on a marked "cyber" connotation. The rapid growth in global connectivity has led to an upsurge in computer crime, which is now one of the ten forms of serious crime with a cross-border dimension.

Bitcoins, virtual currencies, cloud computing and big data are just some of the terms that have emerged in this digital ecosystem, in both their criminal and strategic dimensions. The dematerialization of transactions means that exchanges are increasingly anonymous, making it easier for cybercriminals to act. As a result, we are seeing an increasing number of thefts of personal data, particularly banking data, as well as numerous digital scams, massive hacking operations, manipulation of stock market prices, computer attacks, attacks on e-reputation and industrial espionage via information systems.

These are major challenges for our societies and economies as they try to adapt to the cyber-globalization of this crime. How does this cyber-financial crime act, what are its costs, what are its modus operandi and how can it be combated?

These are just some of the questions that our guests will attempt to answer during this evening debate organized jointly by ENSAE-Alumni and IHEDN.
