AAGEF executives invite Jean-Michel HALFON

Jean-Michel Halfon is President and General Manager of the Emerging Markets Business Unit. He joined Pfizer in 1977 and worked in manufacturing, market research and sales in France. After 10 years at Pfizer, he joined Merck as a marketing director in France. Jean-Michel returned to Pfizer France with marketing and sales responsibilities and launched Zithromax, Norvasc and Zoloft. In 1994, he reorganized Pfizer France across business units and joined Pfizer Europe to help define Pfizer's European strategy. Jean-Michel moved to Pfizer’s New York Headquarters in 1998 to head a product global development team, and from 1999 to 2007 was Country Manager of Pfizer Canada. As country manager, he emphasized growth and influencing the environment to increase Pfizer Canada’s competitiveness and provide increased access to medicines for patients. Under his leadership, Pfizer Canada grew from a $500 million to a $2.3 billion business. Prior to assuming his current role, he was Area President of Canada-Latin-America-Africa/Middle East Pharmaceutical Operations from January 2007 to December 2008. Jean-Michel has served as chair of Rx&D, the Canadian research-based pharmaceutical association, as a member of the association’s executive committee and board. He has also served as Chairman of the Canada PhRMA Committee and Vice Chair of the Latin America PhRMA Committee. Jean-Michel graduated from École Centrale Paris and holds an MBA from HEC-ISA in France.
