Deaths - Death of Sebastião Salgado, ENSAE alumnus and photographer of humanity
French-Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado died in Paris on May 23, aged 81. His death occurred on the eve of the opening of the Genesis exhibition at the Musée d'art contemporain in Montélimar. The exhibition has been maintained, a posthumous tribute to the artist, a great witness to the human condition and the state of the planet.
Sebastião, after studying econometrics and earning a doctorate at ENSAE Paris, had abruptly changed careers to become a photographer...
"I used to take my camera with me on surveys, and I realized that images gave me ten times more pleasure than economic reports. I began to see the world in a different way, through the viewfinder and through direct contact with people. In fact, I kept doing the same thing: taking stock of reality".
Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
