Marie Ganon wins the Best Actuarial Thesis 2024 Award from ENSAE Paris - Class of 2023

Last night, ENSAE Paris hosted the Best Actuarial Dissertation Award ceremony, highlighting academic excellence and innovation in this field of expertise. For 4 years now, ENSAE Alumni has joined forces with the school and the Institute of Actuaries to reward the work accomplished by third-year students.

Among the nominees, Marie Ganon stood out, winning first prize for her dissertation entitled: "Prise en compte du risque climatique dans le provisionnement agricole."

Cutting-edge thinking on climate and agricultural issues

Marie's work tackles a major current challenge: integrating climate risk into agricultural provisioning models, a particularly relevant topic in the context of accelerating climate change. Combining scientific rigor with an innovative actuarial approach, her thesis proposes concrete solutions for better anticipating the financial impact of climate hazards on the agricultural sector.

A prize for excellence

The €1,000 prize was awarded to Marie in recognition of the quality of her research and her contribution to the field of actuarial science. Jury members praised the relevance of her subject, the clarity of her analysis and her contribution to discussions on climate risk management.

Top-level nominees

The ceremony was also an opportunity to congratulate the other four nominees, who presented high-quality work on a variety of subjects, testifying to the excellence of training at ENSAE Paris and the creativity of students in their approach to actuarial issues.

Congratulations to the 4 nominees:

  • Céline FRANCONY: Integrating climate risk into risk-neutral scenarios for equity trajectories.
  • Maxime LENOIR: Measuring and taking into account inflation risk in construction insurance provisioning.
  • Daniel NKAMENI: Study of the stability of a segmentation model in credit insurance.
  • Florian SALAUN: Statistical learning modeling of the temperature-mortality link in predictive open data.

Recognition for actuaries facing tomorrow's challenges

This annual event demonstrates the importance of supporting research and innovation in actuarial science. Work such as that of Marie Ganon illustrates how this discipline can contribute to meeting societal and environmental challenges with robust methodological and technical solutions.

Congratulations again to Marie GANON and all the participants for their commitment and excellence!

And thanks to all the members of the Jury for their investment in this project:

  • Isabelle TOURNASSOUD, President of ENSAE Alumni
  • Anne EMILY and Philippe TALLEUX, members of the scientific commission of the Institute of Actuaries
